Fried pickles and catch of the day.

Cheap canned beer.
Wind blowing spring storms from the Gulf.

A fisherman said,
every year thousands of butterflies
stop to rest on his shrimp boat
on their long journey home
before they die.

A dolphin rolls off the lip of a turquoise wave
in Corpus Christi Bay.
A pretty picture,
even with the spew of refineries in the distance.

The wind just blew my beer can off the table,
so it's time for another.

This place,
beautifully flawed like me.
